New and used Social curlers welcome for Wednesday night 7.30pm session
While Thursday night curling has a reputation of being highly
competitive "blood and iron" curling, Wednesday is more relaxed and good
both for beginners and people who would normally only ever know the
loneliness of high command as a team skipper. Depending on numbers,
teams are often picked out of a hat. Curling gives people the
opportunity of being on a team where the skipper's job is rotated
around, enabling people to gain experience on where to place that broom in the
house. For people who are normally skippers, exhausted by the rigours
and responsibilities of commanding a highly honed curling assault team,
this is an opportunity to relearn the "zen friction" of "broom . . . .
and ice". If not a member, a day pass is $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for
juniors and university students. Please bring a separate, clean pair of
running shoes. Brooms are available for use at the club.
If you have any questions, please contact Jeff Olfert - 584-9384 -

Squash News : New day pass fees for guests and casual players
Squash, along with badminton, can make a nice alternative to tennis when
the courts are covered with snow. For people who would like to try
squash out, the regular squash nights are Tuesday 7pm and Thursday 7pm.
New day pass fees are $5.00 for adults and $2.50 for juniors and
university students. If interested, and to make sure there is a spare
racquet and goggles available, contact Lachlan Cranswick on 401 3433; or
E-mail lachlan@melbpc.org.au (Email is the preferred contact method). If
wondering about the goggles, the confined spaces and size and speed of
the ball in squash make it preferable and recommended to wear eye
protection. If you wear glasses, glass lenses are not recommended on
court, but shock proof plastic lenses; or wearing goggles around the
glasses.
