The following was reported in a 12th December 2004 submission to the North Renfrew Times.

People who might like some tuition on a "standing delivery" and/or pendulum delivery "from the hack" should contact Evans Harrison (584-2482) and/or Pat Kelly.

If doctors' advice recommends giving up such things as Ukrainian Shumka dancing; you might also come to the belief that playing curling is out of your reach. However, there are alternative methods of delivering a winning curling rock, without risking ligaments or vertibrae. An example of this is using the broom via the "standing delivery" to deliver the rock, where draws, raises and take-outs can be undertaken without having to bend your back. With an appropriate method of throwing the rock, accessible, quality curling can be played pretty much irrespective of age.

With this in mind, a Seniors' Curling Delivery Clinic, with rock scientists Evans Harrison and Pat Kelly as instructors and demonstrators, has been scheduled for Sunday 12th of December starting at 2pm and ending around 3pm. For those with joints and ligaments challenged by the modern rock delivery method, this will deal with the more traditional, throwing the rock "from the hack" (with no slider) as demonstrated by Evans Harrison; and the "standing delivery", of which Pat Kelly is most likely the Upper Ottawa Valley master of this delivery, making Pat pretty much a ringer for any team he plays on. Starting with a short safety introduction for absolute newcomers, this Clinic is open to all: club members and non-members (just bring a separate pair of clean running shoes for use on the ice). The primary covert aim of this clinic is to help minimize excuses for not participating in the Seniors' Christmas Bonspiel, and Deep River Senior Curling (NO SWEEP) on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. However, non-seniors who might run afoul of their chiropractors with the standard sliding delivery are also welcome. Refreshments and snacks will be available from the club bar. If interested, sign up at the club-house or contact Lachlan Cranswick (584-4226 ; lachlanc *at* magma.ca) or Evans Harrison (584-2482).
